What Have I Been Up To

I have still been leading worship on Tuesday nights at Summit’s college gathering, which has been a blessing. Yesterday we had several meetings at Summit. Van and I were part of their teaching meeting, going over Daniel 6. It was great to be a part of that meeting again, to be in a room full of pastors and leaders going over scripture and preparing the message for this weekend. It’s humbling to see these teaching pastors listen to everyone’s ideas and insight and actually use it. It’s a team effort. After that, I met with Bill, their youth pastor about possibly leading worship for their high school group starting in the fall. It’s something we are both praying about. We’ll see what happens. After that, myself, Van, Josh, Lily, and Magdy met with Todd to continue talking about the church plant. We’ll be meeting monthly with him from now on. It’s great to have someone behind us that is as excited as we are and is continually pushing us forward.

Besides ministry, I have been studying the last week and a half to take a life and health insurance exam to try and get my license. If I do, I’ll be working pretty soon. I pray that this works out. I’ll be working in Cape Coral and also have a flexible schedule. We’ll see.

So that’s what I have been up to this last week. What about you guys?

I Can’t Wait For This

Check out this review from RollingStone. Sounds great. Everything I’ve seen or read about this movie, the actors and the script, have been amazing. This will be the movie of the summer.

Death and all His Friends

Want to listen to the new Coldplay? Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends is streaming on myspace or at IHeartMusic. Check it out before it comes out next week. I think working with Brian Eno really helped them out.

með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust

or “with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly”. That’s the translation of the new Sigur Ros album.

“inspired by the unfettered feeling of the acoustic performances filmed during heima, sigur rós decided to adopt a looser approach in the writing and creation of með suð. the material for the album was written, recorded and mixed entirely in 2008 and is being released just one month after its completion. the album glows with the perfect imperfection of live takes, the sounds of fingers playing guitar strings, cracked notes, and a stark, upfront presence not found in previous sigur rós recordings, moving away from reverb-soaked guitar sounds towards something altogether more affecting. the record also contains some of the most joyous music the band has ever recorded.”

It was also co-produced by Flood, which should be awesome. If you’re interested in hearing the album please click here. I haven’t heard it all yet, but so far it sounds great.
