What have you been listening to?

I have to come up with some better titles for my blog posts. I just wanted to tell you about 2 songs that have really been speaking to me in the last few weeks.

The first song is Desert Song from Brooke Fraser. It’s from the latest Hillsong live CD, This Is Our God. Brooke Fraser has recently become one of my favorite song writers. Click here to view a video of the story behind the song.

The second song is from Charlie Hall’s new CD, The Bright Sadness. Check out Charlie’s website by clicking here to view the e-card for the album. You can also find all the chord charts for each of the songs under resources and commentary on each song. Here’s what he had to say about “New Year”.

“New Year” was written after a long period of difficult pain and confusion, realizing that it wasn’t necessarily going to end any time soon. I wanted to confess to God that I wasn’t looking for the end of hard times any more, but that I would be able to walk with Him, while in pain, and live in the hope and brightness of Him. “New Year” is what happens any time we get to the end of ourselves and just want God. Our acceptance of pain and sorrow swirling together while we cling to Christ becomes a powerful way to point to Christ , the brightness.

Both of these songs have been my anthems during this season of life. If you’re anything like me, music plays a big part in your life. What songs have you been currently listening to that have been speaking to you?
